Kinsey Enjoys Productive Spring

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. Indiana football signee Dan Kinsey has enjoyed a productive spring in track and field and in the classroom. In addition to being named valedictorian of his class at Beaver Local High School in Wellsville, Ohio, Kinsey set two state records at the Ohio State Multi-Event Championships last weekend in Columbus, Ohio. The 2004 national decathlon champion set a state record in the decathlon with 7,234 points. In addition, he set a state record in the javelin with a throw of 201-10.

Kinsey is slated to play either linebacker or safety for the Hoosier football team, and he will also compete for coach Randy Heisler's track and field program. Considering that the top javelin throw at the 2005 Big Ten outdoor championship was 207 feet, Heisler and IU football coach Terry Hoeppner are excited about Kinsey's potential in both sports.
