Versyp Adds One More for 2005-06

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. --Indiana head coach Sharon Versyp and the Indiana women's basketball program has announced the addition of Kelly McManmon (Lee, Mass./Lee) for the 2005-06 academic year. McManmon joins fall signees Tara Miller (Ramsey, Ind./North Harrison), Kimberly Roberson (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) and Whitney Thomas (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) for next season's campaign.
McManmon, a 5-10 guard, is the first IU women's basketball player to hail from the state of Massachusetts. She averaged 22.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game as a senior.
One of the most accomplished high school basketball players in Massachusetts, McManmon is Lee High School's all-time leading scorer with 1,751 points and led the team in scoring, rebounding, assists and blocked shots all four years. She guided the Wildcats to a state title in 2003, runner-up finishes in 2004 and 2005 and helped them to three-straight Western Massachusetts Sectional titles.
McManmon was a three-time Berkshire County MVP, a four-time Berkshire County Coaches first team selection and listed on McDonald's All-American Top 100 list. She once scored 45 points in a game to lead her team to the sectional title, which set the all-time scoring record at the University of Massachusetts arena.
She played AAU basketball for the one of the most premier AAU programs in the Northeast, the Albany Capitals.
Versyp says McManmon will make an immediate impact on the Hoosier squad.
"Kelly can flat out score," Versyp said. "She is a very hard worker, and we are so happy to have her here. She will be a nice addition to the hardworking group of student-athletes that we have."
