Fesenko Takes 13th in 400 Free at Worlds

MONTREAL, Canada - Rising junior Sergiy Fesenko took 13th place in the 400 LCM freestyle at the 2005 FINA World Championships in Montreal. The Keiv, Ukraine, product touched in 3:50.15 to post the 13th-fastest time of the preliminaries.
Not only did Fesenko prove his worth against the world's best, he also knocked off swimming phenom Michael Phelps head-to-head in his heat. Phelps wound up in 18th and will not compete in the event finals. Additionally, Fesenko's clocking is the fourth-best in school history.
In other action for the Hoosiers, rising sophomore Colin Russell recorded a 3:52.92 to place 22nd in front of his home crowd. That effort stands as the seventh-fastest in school history.
