Russell Captures Silver Medal at FINA World Championships

MONTREAL - Rising sophomore Colin Russell, and his Canadian contingent, blazed to silver medals in the 800 LCM freestyle relay at the 2005 FINA World Championships in Montreal. The Canadians posted a 7:09.73 to come in second to the United States' gold-medal time of 7:06.58. Australia rounded out the podium with a bronze-medal clocking of 7:10.59. Additionally, Russell recorded a 1:48.60 split to help his countrymen to the silver.
"The entire Indiana family is proud of Colin's performance," Indiana head coach Ray Looze said. "It is a wonderful achievement to win a silver medal at the World Championships. This meet is the second-most difficult behind only the Olympic Games. This is a wonderful beginning to what will be an outstanding career for Colin in international swimming."
