IU Competes in Day Two of USATF Championships

CARSON, Calif. - Overall, a quartet of Hoosiers competed in day two of the 2005 USATF Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Carson, Calif.

Senior Wil Fleming opened the day for the Hoosiers with a 19th-place effort in the hammer throw. The performance came during his first attempt when Fleming chucked the hammer 61.80m.

In the 3,000m steeplechase, junior Kelly Siefker qualified for the consolation round with the 14th-fastest time of 10:32.52 in the first round of action.

In the 5,000m, junior Stephen Haas placed 11th with a time of 13:48.27. In the junior portion of the 5,000m, freshman Mark Fruin claimed ninth place in 14:45.50.
