IU Picks Up Trio of Top-Five Finishes at Counsilman

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Indiana swimming claimed a trio of top-five performances in Friday's finals of the 2005 FINIS Counsilman Classic June 10 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
In the men's 100 LCM butterfly, redshirt freshman Nick Walkotten finished just behind Michael Phelps and Davis Tarwater with a third-place 54.78, which is the third-fastest effort in school history. Meanwhile, on the women's side, rising sophomore Annica Lofstedt claimed 13th place with a 1:04.42.
In the men's 100 LCM breaststroke, rising junior Kevin Swander grabbed fourth place with a 1:06.64, while incoming freshman A.J. Miller posted a sixth-place 1:07.79 as a sign of things to come for the talented rookie. Additionally, new recruit Tyler Boulden took 17th place with a time of 1:08.85, while rising freshman Alec Haley placed 18th with a 1:09.41.
In earlier action, rising junior Doherty Colgin claimed 15th place in the 200 LCM freestyle with a 2:07.02, which improved upon her 16th-seed and prelim time of 2:07.23. On the men's side of the equation, rising freshman Todd Patrick matched his seed with a seventh-place finish, but dropped his time to 1:54.69.
In the 400 LCM IM, rising sophomore Matt Jensen took fifth place with a 4:37.97, while Patrick finished eighth with a 4:46.93. Additionally, Haley captured 10th place in a time of 4:39.88.
