IU Volleyball Adds Another to Program

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head coach Katie Weismiller and the IU volleyball program announced the addition of Jessica Batliner (Clarksville, Ind./Our Lady of Providence) for the 2005-06 academic year. Batliner will join previous signees Carrie Deal (Bloomington, Ind./North), Laura Katherine de Lambert Holm (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North), Jessica Langert (Downers Grove, Ill./Montini Catholic), Kari Morgenstein (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson), Hana Ros (Muncie, Ind./Burris), Ashley Shaufler (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central), Erica Short (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville) and Emily Zulauf (Findlay, Ohio/Findlay) during next season's campaign.
Batliner, a 5-9 setter from Clarksville, Ind., helped Our Lady of Providence to a final four state berth during both her senior and sophomore years. Batliner's team also claimed regional and sectional titles in each of those seasons. Additionally, Batliner earned Class 3A all-state recognition in 2003 and 2004, while also garnering academic all-state honors her final year. Her team's most valuable player in 2004, the four-year letterwinner posted the most assists on her squad her last two seasons.
Away from the court, Batliner captured a spot on her school's honor roll as well as National Honor Society certification. Meanwhile, Batliner served as a student ambassador at Our Lady of Providence.
"Jessica comes in with a lot of experience in the position," Weismiller said. "She is a natural setter with great hands and technique. She is going to provide us some added depth in the setting corps."
