BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Chad Giddens and Megan Allen have both earned promotions in the marketing department at Indiana University, as announced by Associate Athletics Director of External Operations Tim Fitzpatrick. Giddens will now oversee the marketing and promotions arm of IU as the Director of Marketing, while Allen moves up from a staff assistant position as an Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions.
"Please join me in congratulating Chad and Megan on their promotions," Fitzpatrick said. "It's my pleasure and privilege to work with them, and I am not only proud of their efforts to date, but am looking forward enthusiastically to witnessing the result of their efforts on behalf of IU this year and in the future."
Previously, Giddens served as the Assistant Director of Marketing at IU since 2000. During that time, he created and carried out marketing plans for all varsity sports with emphasis on football, soccer, volleyball and women's basketball. Additionally, he advised the Student-Athlete Athletic Board as well as served as a liaison between the group and the athletics department. Prior to his assistant director tenure, Giddens worked in the marketing department as a graduate assistant from 1998-2000. Giddens graduated from IU with a master's in kinesiology with a sport management emphasis in 2000 and garnered a bachelor's of science degree in kinesiology with a sport marketing and management emphasis from Indiana in 1995.
"During my relatively short term here at IU, Chad's dedication, loyalty, creativity and business savvy have enabled him to perform and produce at a very high level," Fitzpatrick said. "He has truly distinguished himself, and under his leadership, our overall marketing and sales efforts are proceeding at record-setting levels. Chad will focus on the development of marketing and ticket sales strategies for all of our fan constituent groups, coordinate all advertising and promotion planning, and will assist me with managing our business relationship with IU Sports Properties/Learfield Sports. I'm very confident that he will continue to do great things as our 'quarterback' in the marketing and promotions area."
Over the past two years, Allen proved herself for the Hoosiers as a marketing assistant in charge of baseball, softball and volleyball, and assisting with game coordination and promotions for football and women's basketball during that time period. Before making Bloomington home, Allen served as a marketing and promotions student intern at Washington State. While at WSU, Allen planned and executed Greek/Student-Athlete dinners to promote upcoming events as well as coordinated Midnight Madness. In 2003, Allen graduated with a bachelor's of arts degree in sport management with a minor in public relations.
"Megan's energy and enthusiasm, coupled with a very diligent, persistent work ethic, make her a great asset to the department and the University," Fitzpatrick said. "As Megan's role develops and expands, she will be dedicating a good portion of her time and effort to developing new revenue streams for selected sports, as well as working directly to enhance and strengthen our game presentation while assisting in the development of greater fan enthusiasm."
