Hoosiers Report for Practice

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The 2005 Indiana field hockey team reported to campus Wednesday to begin preseason preparations. The team's 20 players, including three newcomers, checked in with head coach Amy Robertson to begin practice and workouts for the upcoming 2005 season. The Hoosiers, who concluded the season with a program-best 12-8 record, look to continue where they left off last season and have another benchmark year for Indiana field hockey.
"We are glad and really excited to be back," Robertson said. "There is a new energy around this place that has developed from the realization that this team is really special. I don't think there is a doubt in anyone's mind that this is going to be the best year IU field hockey has ever had. This is our chance to create a legacy for the program. One of the best parts of this season is that we have a big group of seniors who have been through the rebuilding process of this program, and this is there last shot to make something great happen at IU."
The Hoosiers hit the field for their first practice of the 2005 campaign Thursday evening after various tests and team meetings. The week includes four days of two practices, a team camping trip and a scrimmage against in-state rival Ball State on Aug. 21, at 3 p.m.
Incoming freshman Katie Kiper was one of the first Hoosiers to report to the Mellencamp Pavilion on Wednesday to begin preseason work.
"I am really excited," Kiper said. "I am thrilled to be here. I don't know what to expect, but I can't wait to get started. I think this is going to be a fun and exciting year."
