BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana football rolled through its fourth practice of fall camp on Thursday as the squad continued positions drills along with 9-on-9 rushing and 7-on-7 passing while in minimal pads.
Practice opened up with some routine position work, which ended up with some more than routine plays, like sophomore tight end Brian Faires snaring a pass on the sideline with one hand.
After some more positions drills in which true freshman Troy Wagner snagged a one-handed reception of his own over the middle, 9-on-9 rushing commenced. The defense opened up with a pair of impressive stops as senior defensive end Ben Ishola and redshirt freshman defensive lineman Greg Brown each recorded a tackle behind the line of scrimmage.
The Hoosier offense responded as senior running back Yamar Washington scampered for 20 yards and then churned out five yards on a cutback. Josiah Sears then ripped off 10 yards, springing off the right side of the line.
IU's defense countered with a pair of tackles-for-loss as redshirt freshman linebacker Ryan Marando blew through the line for a couple stops.
While the lines changed over to individual drills, the passing game took center stage. As in previous workouts, defense opened up strong before the offensive side of the ball started rolling. Senior defensive back Buster Larkins broke up a pass right before senior linebacker John Pannozzo returned an interception to settle in.
The defensive backfield stemmed the tide as Larkins defended another pass before jumping on a curl route for a pick. Junior safety Eric McClurg then stepped in front of another pass and returned it 70 yards for six points.
Indiana returns to the practice field on Friday afternoon for its fifth practice of the fall and first in full pads.
