IZMIR, Turkey - Rising junior Kevin Swander will be providing a journal from time to time as he competes at the 2005 World University Games in Izmir, Turkey. The Greenwood, Ind., native talks about his finish in the 200 long-course-meter breaststroke in the first day of competition and what he gained from the experience.

"I swam the 200 breast today and qualified for the `A' final this morning. I followed that up by swimming tonight and finished in seventh place.

That was ok, but I was disappointed with my time (2:15.99). I felt that I could have been a 2:13, but I didn't quite execute the race how I wanted to.

I did; however, walk away with some valuable experience under my belt with that race being my first international race. So, you live and learn and then come back and race harder.
