Several former Indiana players saw significant action during the opening week of the 2005 NFL exhibition season, which will be capped off by Antwaan Randle El and the Pittsburgh Steelers meeting the Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 15.
Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Courtney Roby returned two kickoffs for 43 yards with a personal best 22-yarder in a 20-17 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Chicago Bears defensive end Adewale Ogunleye recorded three tackles and two sacks in a 17-13 loss at St. Louis.
Carolina Panthers linebacker Justin Smith had one tackle and a forced fumble in a 28-10 victory over the Washington Redskins. Former Hoosier teammate Kemp Rasmussen is second on the Carolina depth chart at left defensive end.
Kansas City quarterback Trent Green completed three of five passes for 23 yards in a 27-16 loss to Minnesota. Former IU offensive guard Chris Liwienski is the Vikings' starting left guard, and rookie Chris Jahnke is third on the Vikings' depth chart at left guard.
Quarterback Gibran Hamdan is fourth on Seattle's depth chart, while Herana-Daze Jones is fourth at strong safety for the Cincinnati Bengals. Kris Dielman is second at left guard for the San Diego Chargers, and Enoch DeMar is the backup left guard for the Cleveland Browns.
