Hoosier Minor League Report: Doug DeVore

Throughout the history of Indiana baseball, a large contingent of Hoosiers has gone on to play at the professional level. There are currently 10 former IU standouts playing professional ball and in the upcoming weeks IUHOOSIERS.com will take a look at how each player is doing with their respective ballclubs.
Up first is former Hoosier Doug DeVore. DeVore is an outfielder with the Fresno Grizzlies, the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A affiliate. A 1999 first team All-Big Ten selection, DeVore starred with the Hoosiers from 1997-99, amassing a .333 career batting average with 24 home runs and 112 RBI.
In 2005, DeVore has split time with the Arizona Diamondbacks' Triple-A Tucson Sidewinders and the Grizzlies. With the Sidewinders (April 7-June 1), DeVore hit .289 (43-for-149) with seven home runs, 32 RBI, 25 runs, nine doubles and one triple.
After getting traded to the Giants, DeVore has posted a .291 average (34-for-117) with seven homers, 21 RBI, 22 runs and eight doubles in 45 games for the Grizzlies.
DeVore has been hot of late, batting .429 (18-for-42) in his last 14 games with four home runs, 11 RBI, 10 runs and five doubles since July 16. He has raised his batting average to .291 during the stretch.
Overall this season, DeVore has played in 89 games, hitting .289 (77-for-266) with 14 homers, 53 RBI, 47 runs, 17 doubles and four stolen bases.
Last season, DeVore made his major league debut with the Arizona Diamondbacks, playing in 50 games. He closed the season with three home runs, 13 RBI, five runs, three doubles, three triples and one stolen base.
During his minor league career, spanning from 1999-2004, DeVore has played in 696 games with the Arizona and San Francisco organizations. He owns a .282 average with 89 home runs, 386 RBI, 364 runs, 142 doubles, 33 triples, 43 stolen bases and 228 bases on balls.
