Hoosiers Test Their Toughness Outdoors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team took a break from preseason workouts for a group camping trip and eco-challenge. The overnight adventure was organized by assistant coach, Gina Lucido and is designed to strengthen team unity as well as allow for some friendly outdoor competition.
This is the second year the team has taken on the outdoors, and despite this year's wet weather, the camping trip was a success. The Hoosiers travel to nearby Lake Monroe and are divided up into pairs for the eco-challenge. Although the challenge requires physical toughness and teamwork, the pairs all have fun participating and enjoy selecting a group theme and costumes for the competition.
"The camping trip is a great way for us to get to know each other away from field hockey," head coach Amy Robertson said. "It's a chance for the players and coaches to have some fun before the season and school start. We get a unique chance to explore ourselves while we're out there. We talk around the campfire and compete in our own field hockey eco-challenge. We have a lot of fun, but we are also doing something physical that pushes the team in other ways than we are used to. This is one of our favorite things out of the whole year. It's competitive, funny and a great time."
