Indiana Inks Sixth in Big Ten Poll

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's soccer team tabbed a sixth-place ranking in the Big Ten preseason conference poll announced the league office today. The Hoosiers finished eighth in last year's conference race and look to again return to the top of the conference standings this year.
Penn State took the top spot, rounded out by Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin in the second through fifth positions.
Penn State enters the 2005 season as the conference's defending regular season champion, finishing the 2004 campaign 9-1. The Nittany Lions lost to the second-ranked preseason squad of Ohio State in last year's tournament final, 2-0, giving the Buckeyes their second Big Ten Tournament crown.
The Hoosiers begin the preseason this Friday against Memphis at Yeagley Field at Armstrong Stadium at 7 p.m. IU will begin its conference schedule on the road against this year's conference-favorite Nittany Lions on Sept. 23, in State College, Pa., at 7 p.m.
