Albini's Game Day Double Duty

Senior Morgan Albini fills two roles on game days. The San Pasqual, Calif., native, who started every game for the Hoosiers in 2004, is a talented defender and voacalist. For the past three seasons, Albini has been both a starter for IU and the singer of the National Anthem for the Indiana field hockey home games.
Albini has had a passion and an extraordinary ability to sing her whole life. Although Albini has had minimal formal voice training, her talent is widely known and appreciated among her teammates. The first time she sang in front of a crowd was for her church when she was twelve years old and still continues to sing today.
"I have been singing since I learned how to talk," Albini said. "I sang in the school choir from 6th through 11th grade, but mostly I just sing for fun."
Most recently, Albini has shared her talent with her field hockey teammates. Albini sings the National Anthem at field hockey home games before going on the field as a starting back for the Hoosiers.
"I love singing at our games because I know that the rest of the team really enjoys when I sing for them," Albini said. "I also enjoy it because I take such pride in our country, and the opportunities that I have had by living here, specifically being able to play field hockey at the college level."
