BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana football team began Tuesday's practice with situational drills before moving onto 11-on-11.
Both units were effective, but it was the offense that struck first. Quarterback Blake Powers completed consecutive passes to wide receiver Marcus Thigpen followed by one to freshman Nick Polk for 10- and eight-yard pickups after catch, respectively.
The defense showed its strength breaking up multiple plays, highlighted by the work of sophomore defensive back Tracy Porter and junior safety Will Meyers combining to breakup a 20-yard pass attempt.
Following 11-on-11 action, the Hoosiers set up for 7-on-7 play.
Offensive notables came at the arm of freshman quarterback Kellen Lewis connecting on well-timed routes with senior tight end Matt O'Neal and Polk on 25-plus yard advances.
Damien Jones answered for the defense nabbing a clean interception after fellow teammate Porter broke-up a 25-yard pass attempt the play before.
The Hoosiers will return to the practice fields with two sessions on Wednesday.
