Junior, Midfielder, Ali Brown, Carmel, Ind.
As yet another summer flew by, I suddenly found myself preparing to come back to Bloomington, Ind., to start my third pre-season. Only this time, it would be as an upper-classman.
After getting over the shock that I was already halfway done with my college-soccer career, I felt a great wave of excitement as soon as I stepped back on campus and reunited with the team for the first time. Even though the last 10 days have felt more like a month, as they always do during pre-season, my high expectations for the upcoming season have continued to grow as I've watched the team come together both on and off the field.
After an awesome first five days of practices, we decided to do a little team bonding and head to Brown County to camp out. We stayed in some very nice cabins. After settling in, some of the girls took charge and headed to one of the picnic areas to start grilling the food.
Courtney O'Bryan stepped up as our chef extraordinaire and rightfully earned the title of burger king, or BK for short. After the last car finally found the grilling area, which proved to be a little tricky as people were giving directions such as, "It's by a bunch of trees," we proceeded to feast and get our hands on as much food as possible before it was all gone.
We ended the night with some friendly activities where we got to know the freshmen better, and then we went to our respective cabins and called it a night by about 10 (hey, it was a long week). I cannot wait for the regular season to start, as I know we will be able to achieve our goal of getting into the NCAA tournament, which is where anything can happen.
We are all going to a movie tonight, and bowling tomorrow, before we start preparing ourselves for a big weekend in Los Angeles against two very strong teams. In California, hopefully we will get the job done on the field, while enjoying our time on the sunny West Coast.
GO HOOSIERS!!
