BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The 2005 Indiana volleyball squad hit the court for another vigorous practice in preparation for the season-opening IU Credit Union Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 27. Sophomore right side Lauren Ditteon and freshman outside hitter Erica Short took time out after practice to discuss the upcoming season and how they are adjusting to school.
Freshman outside hitter Erica Short
On how she is feeling about beginning her colLegiate volleyball career on Saturday:
I am feeling pretty good. We had lots of goals set for us today. We can achieve them, just based off our scrimmage today. We have played really well. No matter who we put on the floor, we are going to play well.
On the scrimmage during practice:
The first team we need to pick it up a lot. The second team gave us a good run. We just need to pick up some things and combine them together. We are going to be ready.
On how she is adjusting to college life:
It is going pretty well. I am just kind of nervous about school. Volleyball-wise, I love the girls. They have helped me with everything. I have them to thank.
Sophomore right side Lauren Ditteon
On how she is feeling about opening the season on Saturday:
I am definitely excited, because we have a lot of new people out here. It is really fun to get to know them and play with different people. A lot of energy and our passing and defense are so much better than last year. That should help out our team a lot.
On the depth of the frontline:
We are going to have a lot of people battling for spots every day in practice. Everyone is just trying to get out there on the floor.
On the adjustment to being back in school:
It is exciting to be back, especially since I didn't get to play in the spring. There were a few of us that stayed all summer. They worked so hard. You can really see that.
