Kruger comes to IU with a ton of accomplishments to her name. Kruger was also chosen teh Super Team Player of the Year for the third consecutive year by the Indianapolis Star. The midfielder was named the Indiana Player of the Year and is a two-time Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year. She racked up nine goals and dished out 24 assists in 25 games in 2002. Kruger also broke Carmel's single-season assists record and holds the schools all-time record in that category. Kruger earned first-team all-state in 2001, '02 and `03. She also earned second-team all-state honors in 2000, as a freshman.
Her club team, the Carmel Commotion, coached by Mark Castro, is a four-time state champion, and has been runner-up in Region II twice and regional semi-finalists three times during her four years. In 2003, despite losing the Indiana State Cup to IU teammate Suzie Teixeira's Dynamo team, the Commotion, with Kruger and another Hoosier teammate Katy Stewart, made it to Regionals as a wildcard team. They then proceeded to win the regional tournament and go on to be national runners-up.
Kruger has also been very active in the Indiana 85 ODP team from 1999-2002. She made the 85 Region II team, coached by IU head coach Mick Lyon, in '99, '00, '01 and '02 and was selected to the National Pool in 2001.
Kruger original signed with IU last year and was set to be a part of the 2004 program, but injuries due to a tragic automobile accident while traveling with her club team, forced her to take some time away from soccer and from school. She is now enrolled at Indiana and currently practicing with the team.
"We are very happy to have Molly here after a tough fall with her not being in school and receiving a lot of physical therapy," said Lyon. "I think that it is going to be a plus for us come this fall, since she is enrolled in school and currently training with us. She brings a special talent to the team."
