Radcliffe Knocks In Two More Goals

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - Three 1-0 victories moved the Indiana women's soccer team to a perfect 8-0 in the spring, as the Hoosiers hosted their Outdoor Round Robin event this past Sunday, April 10.
"We are continuing the great progress we have made all spring," said head coach Mick Lyon. "We could have had a few more goals, but the main thing is we are creating and attacking, giving us more opportunities to score."
IU opened the event with a shutout over the University of Southern Indiana. Freshman Kristin Radcliffe notched the goal with a powering kick to the back left corner of the net.
In their second game, the Cream and Crimson edged Cincinnati. Sophomore Ali Brown started the game-winning play with a corner kick to the back post, where freshman Lindsay McCarthy won a header and played the ball back across the goal. Eventually, the ball was knocked in by Radcliffe for her second goal of the day and fifth of the spring. The score was also the fourth of the year for Indiana on a corner kick.
"We are getting a lot more out of our corner kicks now then last season," said coach Lyon. "A large part of that is the service of the kicks. With Molly (Kruger) in practice, she has really done a great job with accurate pinpoint kicks and I think that has motivated Ali (Brown) and Robin (Barker) to get better with theirs."
Indiana finished the day with a blanking of Valparaiso. Off sophomore Ali Brown's corner kick, redshirt freshman Jenna Babcock tallied her first goal of the spring season with a magnificent header.
"She rose about eight yards out and held up in the air," said Lyon. "Then she just pounded a header for a goal. Just a tremendous header."
Sophomore Stacey Van Boxmeer and freshman Megan Reinhardt split time at goalkeeper, each coming away with a flawless day of work.
"Stacey was extremely solid again," while Megan has really improved her game since she arrived her," said Lyon. "The spring is a time where a lot of the kids who didn't get a lot of minutes in the fall can really prove themselves now, and she is just reaping the benefits of that."
The Hoosiers have one more game left in their spring season. Indiana welcomes Kansas to Bloomington next Sunday, April 24, in an 11 a.m., contest at Armstrong Stadium.
