Schrott Earns Big Ten Honor

Forward Lydia Schrott earned the Big Ten's first Offensive Player of the Week honor of 2005.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior forward Lydia Schrott was named Offensive Big Ten Player of the Week for Aug. 29-Sept. 2 after helping the Hoosiers to a 2-0 start to the season. Schrott tallied four goals in Indiana's two wins over New Hampshire and Northeastern last weekend. Additionally, the Quarryville, Pa., native added her name to the top of two categories in Hoosier record books.

Schrott began the weekend with a goal in IU's 3-1 victory at New Hampshire. The following day against the always-tough Northeastern Huskies, Schrott tallied all three of Indiana's goals including one hat trick to lead the Hoosiers to a 3-2 win. Schrott's three scores made her the single-game leader in goals scored and moved her past former IU standout Erica Nilsson in career goals with 16.

This is Schrott's first Big Ten Player of the Week award and Indiana's second consecutive honor as teammate Frederique Meeuwsen claimed the final 2004 honor on Nov. 1. 2004.
