Kanara Named to Coaching Staff at Saint Louis

Katie Kanara will be an assistant coach for the Billikens next season.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Indiana goalkeeper Katie Kanara was named an assistant field hockey coach at Saint Louis University on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005. In her new role, Kanara will work with the goalkeepers and recruits under head coach Maria Whitehead.

While at IU, Kanara helped the Hoosiers to a 12-8 record in 2004 while smashing career and individual records. Kanara ended her tenure as a Hoosier with the record for most career, season and individual wins, saves, and goals against average. A Big Ten All-Tournament selection, Kanara also earned Academic-All Big Ten honors for the 2004 season.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to be apart of Saint Louis field hockey as we make the move to the Atlantic 10," Kanara said. "Coach Whitehead is both a fantastic coach and player and I look forward to working with her as well along with such a great group of student-athletes."
