Five Questions With Yamar Washington

Senior running back Yamar Washington returned to the field in 2004 after undergoing reconstructive surgery to repair the ligament in his left knee. He played in all 11 games and finished with 122 yards on 23 carries. Washington totaled 30 yards on six carries in the season opener against Central Michigan and scored his lone touchdown of the season on a one-yard run. He had his best game of the season in an upset of No. 23 Minnesota with 10 rushes for 46 yards, including a season-long scamper of 17 yards. Washington was very productive with his touches as he closed the year with a 5.3 yard per carry average.

Who has most influenced your football career and why?
My mother because she always kept me going through the thick and thin.
What was your 'Welcome to Indiana Football Moment'?
The first practice we had when I saw Antwaan Randle El moving that fast.
What is the best class you have ever taken at IU and why?
Foundations of Accounting - I really learned a lot about how business work, bonds, the stock market, etc.

What is the one message you have to potential IU football recruits?
It's about time to turn it around, and it's going to be fun to be here when that happens.
