Tameris Finishes 10th in 200 Breast at U.S. Nationals

IRVINE, Calif. - Incoming freshman Heath Tameris captured 10th-place in the 200 LCM breaststroke at the 2005 ConocoPhillips Summer National Championships in Irvine, Calif., on August 4. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native posted a 2:19.11 in the consolation heat at the national event.
In preliminary action, Tameris recorded the 16th-fastest qualifying time with a 2:20.35 in the 200 breast. Meanwhile, rising freshman Ronnie Hehn finished 41st with a 2:24.49. That effort improved Hehn to sixth-place on IU's 200 LCM breast chart. Additionally, incoming freshman A.J. Miller claimed 46th place with a time of 2:24.72 to round out IU's performance in the event.
In the 100 LCM freestyle, rising freshman Todd Patrick moved into fifth in school history with a 34th-place time of 51.56, while rising sophomore Lee Houchin took 51st in 51.92. That performance advanced Houchin into seventh in Indiana's record books.
In the 200 LCM backstroke, rising junior Mike Jones placed 46th by touching in 2:08.16, while rising freshman Ben Hesen took 66th in 2:11.49.
