Everyone was pumped for our trip to Los Angeles this weekend because it meant that pre-season was finally over. The trip also marked the first time for some of us to see Los Angeles. While we didn't get the results we wanted to on the soccer field, we will definitely learn from those games.
While we were in Los Angeles we stayed in a nice hotel. I think the team would agree these were the most comfortable beds we had ever slept on. On Saturday, the team ventured off via public transportation for a bus tour of Hollywood and Beverly Hills. We saw a bunch of celebrity homes and even stopped right in front of some of their driveways! Jim Carey's house and driveway was my personal favorite.
All of us were disappointed we did not actually see a real celebrity, but there were plenty of impersonators standing out on the streets that ranged from creepy to very good look-a-likes.
In any case, it was fun to be out and about in Los Angeles with the team. It gave all of us a chance to get to know each other even better.
On Sunday after our game, we had a lot of time to kill before our flight, so we went to Santa Monica for the afternoon. The beach was crowded and the breeze was cool off the ocean, so we walked around and shopped at the variety of stores that lined the streets. I think Kristin Radcliffe referred to it as, "Shopping heaven!" The weather was perfect and there was an awesome sunset so I just enjoyed walking around.
After such an exciting weekend we headed for our flight back to Indianapolis. Some of us slept for a bit, which made some of us cranky and some of us loopy. Ian Rickerby, our assistant coach, bought a Detroit Lion football during our layover at 6 a.m. in the morning. Of course it had to be a football that made noise!
We arrived back in Bloomington a little before 9 a.m., just enough time for me to brush my teeth and head to class for my first day of school.
I am very excited for our games next weekend because we will get the chance to prove how well our team really can play! As a team, we have all decided that Missouri will not know what hit them come next Friday!
GO HOOSIERS!
