Indiana Head Coach Terry Hoeppner
Opening Statement:
TH: "First of all I want to congratulate Nicholls State for a tremendous effort. That's a good football team that's going to win a lot of games. It's a well-coached team and they had their offense in form today. We made a lot of adjustments through the course of the game to try and stop their running game. Tracy Porter stealing the ball is a play that will go down in history. We are 2-0 right now. There are a lot of teams that would love to be 2-0 and the Hoosiers are."
On the Hoosier's defensive adjustments...
TH: "We made adjustments all through the game. The one thing we didn't do was stop their big fullback (Broderick Cole). We had several guys get dinged up a little, but nothing serious that will keep anybody out more than a practice. That's a tough football team and they know how to run the football."
On how IU felt about Nicholls state coming into the game...
TH: "We expected this to be a tough game. I don't think we had a let down, we were ready to play. We stepped up and made big plays when we needed them. We just need to work on being more consistent. Blake Powers threw the ball pretty well, and James Hardy really stepped up too."
On Tracy Porter "stealing" the ball from Nicholls State late in the 4th quarter...
TH: "Forcing turnovers is something our defense works on every day in practice. He (Porter) is a really smart football player. There was no doubt about it when he took it. There was no review or anything. He stood up and just snatched the ball."
On using the four receiver set throughout the game...
TH: "That is something we had wanted to do. We feel that one of the strengths on our team right now is at wide receiver. We have a lot of guys we want to play there and get involved."
