Indiana Player Quotes
Freshman Wide Receiver James Hardy
On his solid play in the Hoosiers' first two games:
JH: "Last year I didn't get the opportunity to play, but I was told that [redshirting] would be the best thing for me to do. It allowed me to work on my game and get stronger and faster. Now I am just trying to show off my talents."
On the differences between last year's team and this year's team:
JH: "Coach Hoeppner has come in and changed everything. Everybody should praise what he has done. He has changed all of the players' attitudes and has gotten the fans to come out. [The players] are just trying to do their jobs for him because he has helped us so much already."
Sophomore Quarterback Blake Powers
On the team's mood change after Tracy Porter's forced fumble:
BP: "That was a huge play [for the team]. Tracy is a great young player, and he made a great strip of the ball. He saved us from a potential loss, and the offense was able to take advantage when we got the ball back."
On the great play of James Hardy during the Hoosier's game-winning drive:
BP: "[James] told me to throw him the ball because he thought he could make a play, and I knew that he would. I didn't care how many people were on him, I was going to throw him the ball. There were two guys on him going down the sideline on the deep pass, and I didn't care. I just threw him the ball because I knew he would go up and make the catch. Great players make great plays when you need them, and that's what he did tonight - twice.
On leading the team 89 yards down the field to win the game:
BP: "It was a great feeling to go down the field as an offense and win the game when the team needs you. But at the same time, there are things that we need to fix before next week's game [against Kentucky]."
Junior Wide Receiver Jahkeen Gilmore
On the development of the offense:
JG: "Each week and each game we are stepping up a little bit. We are getting a better feel for the offense, executing a lot more, and our quarterback is doing a great job of getting the ball out to all of the receivers."
On the team's wide receiver tandem in James Hardy and himself:
JH: "It has been great, both during games and during practice. James Hardy is a tall receiver, and he is learning that when the ball is thrown up in the air, he can go up and get it."
