BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - As the Indiana volleyball team prepares for a return home for this weekend's TIS Bookstore Invitational in Bloomington, freshmen outside hitters Carrie Deal and Erica Short sat down with IUHOOSIERS.com after practice.
Freshman outside hitter Carrie Deal
On how excited she is to be back home after the six-match road trip:
"A lot of people have been telling me that they are going to come to the matches this weekend. They are just as excited as we are."
On earning playing time at the Winthrop Invitational:
"It was really cool to be in there and wearing the Cream and Crimson. As a little girl, I dreamed of playing Big Ten volleyball here at IU. Getting a chance to do that was just awesome and amazing."
On being in the top two with Erica in the Fan Poll on IUHOOSIERS.com:
"I think I can take her. Actually, it is all in good fun. Erica is the one getting the 20 kills in a match."

On how excited she is to be back home after the six-match road trip:
"I am excited to see all the fans here with our family and friends. It is going be lots of fun to have a home crowd again."
On her resurgence as an attack option for the Hoosiers:
"There wasn't a specific reason why I wasn't playing well for a bit there. I knew that I needed to step it up for my team and for myself. I just started doing the things that needed to be done."
On being in the top two with Carrie in the Fan Poll on IUHOOSIERS.com:
"I didn't really know much about it until today. We are all a team, so I am not going to be mad at her if she gets it. As long as we play well on the court, it doesn't matter."
