I was done with class at about 12:10 p.m. on Friday. It was about that time when It hit me and I started getting really excited about our game. I decided to come home, eat a little lunch and then take a nap before our pre-game meal. I woke up at around 3:30 p.m. to my crazy roommates. We were all really hyped up. We hopped in our cars at around 3:45 and headed to Affairs of the Sun, the best place for pre-game meals.
When we arrived, Coach introduced three recruits that would be staying in Bloomington over the weekend. Lucky for us, all three recruits had already committed to IU, so we really didn't have any convincing to do - they already realized that IU is the best place to be!
Our entire team was really riled up at the pre-game meal. We were all laughing and being loud and getting pumped up for the game that night.
Unfortunately, things just didn't go our way in the game against Miami. We had a couple of missed opportunities to get ahead in the game and before we knew it the score was 2-1 and time was running out. Although we lost, we learned a couple of things and we were all really determined to do even better on Sunday.
On Saturday, we woke up and met the team for a jog and stretch at Armstrong Stadium. After we were done, we headed off to support our football team for their opening game against Nicholls State. Before the game a bunch of us girls tailgated with some IU fans. Later that night the three recruits came over to our house to stay the night and hang out. We ordered a ton of Chinese takeout and we all just had a really great time. A lot of the girls on the team stopped by and we all just hung out.
Before we knew it, it was Sunday morning and our game against Xavier was approaching. The team seemed much more determined and focused on Sunday. We started out strong in the game and ended up scoring two goals relatively early. We then scored another goal in the second half and ended up winning 3-1. Although the weekend wasn't a total success, we walked away with some new insights to our game that will hopefully bring us two wins next weekend. Butler and Bowling Green beware!
