BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana volleyball team's relentless presence at the net continues to shine in the national rankings. In the latest release of NCAA leaders, the Hoosiers enjoy a berth amongst the upper echelon of the nation in block and aces categories.
Overall, the squad is ninth in the country in blocks per game with 3.41, while St. Mary's (Calif.) leads with 4.28.
Meanwhile, sophomore middle blocker Annie Moddrell improved to sixth in the nation with 1.83 blocks per game, while Nebraska's Melissa Elmer remained on top with 2.41 per game.
Additionally, senior outside hitter Rachel Gerling's incredible service game tied her for 12th with a 0.76 aces per game average. The nation's leader in this category is Winthrop's Mary Hock with a 1.37 average. Ironically, the Hoosiers held Hock to 0.75 aces per game in their contest on Sept. 10.
The Hoosiers return home for a six-match homestand, which begins with the TIS Bookstore Invitational on Sept. 16-17 in Bloomington, Ind. The tournament features Arkansas State, Dayton and Western Michigan.
