Russell Places Fifth in 100 Free

MONTREAL - Rising sophomore Colin Russell placed fifth in the 100 freestyle at the Canadian World Championship Trials in Montreal on Thursday. The Barrie, Ontario, native clocked a 51.03 in the championship final at the Claude Robillard Centre.

In preliminary action, Russell touched the wall in 50.99 as the fifth-fastest qualifier.

Russell will close out his World Trials run today as the seventh seed in the 50 freestyle. The World Championship cut in that event for Canada is 22.63.
