Two Former Hoosiers Ready For LPGA Qualifier

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Indiana golfers Danah Ford and Karen Dennison will compete at one of the two LPGA Sectional Qualifier on Sept. 20-23. The top 30 players and ties from the each of sectional qualifiers will advance to the final stage.
Ford and Dennison will play the event on the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirange, Calif. The other qualifier, held Oct. 4-7, will be in Venice, Fla., on the Plantation Golf and Country Club. The final qualifying tournament will be held Nov. 30 through Dec. 4 at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Both players had standout careers at IU. Dennison was named first team All-America by the National Golf Coaches Association in 2003. The Madison, Ind., native, who also earned first team All-Big Ten honors, captured a share of the 2003 Big Ten Championship individual title, as well as winning three outright medalist honors throughout the year. Her stroke average of 73.94 in 2003 was just .02 strokes shy of the school record, which was set by Erika Wicoff in 1995.
Ford was a member of the All-Big Ten team after capturing the 2004 medalist honor with a 1-under par 287. The total is the lowest four-round mark in school history. Additionally, Ford's 75.06 per-round average ranks fifth in school history, while her career average of 77.28 places her sixth in IU lore.
