HATO MAYOR, Dominican Republic-- Depsite senior guard Cyndi Valentin's 19-point effort, the Puerto Rican National team dropped an 83-67 decision to Brazil on Thursday in day two of the FIBA Americas Championships. It marked the second-staight game in which Valentin was the leading scorer.

Puerto Rico now sits at 1-1 after defeating the Dominican Republic in the opening day, 94-55.

The Puerto Ricans and Brazil were neck and neck throughout most of the game. It wasn't until the final minutes that Brazil pulled away by taking advantage of Puerto Rico's mistakes and sealing the game from the free throw line.

Valentin and Puerto Rico will next take on Cuba.
