Hoosiers Have Near Perfect Final Day at Bronco Invitational

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - In the final day of competition at the Western Michigan Invitational, Indiana was virtually unbeatable. Four Hoosiers competing in singles and doubles today were victorious. The most impressive IU win came from freshman Alba Berdala who won the Bronco Invitational's Flight "A" singles bracket.
Berdala defeated Minnesota's Malmberg 7-6, 6-2 to clinch the flight "A" championship, while fellow freshman Stephanie Heller won over University of Illinois-Chicago's Gil-Morlis, 6-1, 6-2. Sophomores Pam Gesellchen and Nikki Hein were also winners in their respective singles matches.
In doubles against UIC, Indiana was victorious in both matches. Gesellchen and Hein won, 8-5, and Perton and Berdala were victorious, 8-2.
The Hoosiers are back in action on Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Bloomington at the Hoosier Classic.
