Hello to everyone again! It's hard for me to remember what has happened in the past weeks since I have written because, with school and soccer in full swing, all the weeks run together! I will do my best to fill you in on some of the exciting things the IU women's soccer team has been up to.
It's been really nice to be at home for the past two weekends, especially because there have been so many other IU sports teams that have been playing. In particular it's been nice to attend the football games and cheer on the Hoosiers, who by the way are doing great! A bunch of us like to go visit with friends and family who are tailgating, which is always fun.
Not only do we get to be at home for sports events when we aren't traveling, but it also gives us the chance to try out some new restaurants right here in Bloomington. On Saturday night, I went out with fellow teammates, Shannon Vnoucek and Lauren Dieter to a nice little Italian restaurant off 4th street. I have to say, their fettuccini alfredo was excellent.
As far as the team goes, there's nothing better than waking up on a Monday morning and knowing that you just came off a two-win weekend! We played Butler on Friday night, which was a tough game, but we picked up our intensity and came out on top. Then on Sunday, we played Bowling Green. It was another tough game, but I guess we wanted to save our goal scoring and get both of them within a span of about 18 seconds. It was a great feeling to get two goals within such a short period of time, but maybe next time we'll try to work on that in the first part of the game. Overall, it was great to get two wins on the weekend!
More importantly it helped build confidence going into our first weekend of Big Ten play. We travel to Penn State and Minnesota, which is going to be back-to-back tough matches. I hear that both campuses are really beautiful, so maybe you should come out and see them. While you are there, you can come out and cheer on the Hoosiers too.
