No. 11 Indiana Set for Big Ten Campaign

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The #11 Indiana Hoosiers wrap up their five-game home stand with their first Big Ten opponent of the year, #6 Michigan State, on Saturday, followed by Lindenwood on Sunday. IU is looking to avenge its final loss of 2004 to Michigan State.
The Hoosiers, who currently are 3-0 at home and 6-1 for the season, are coming off dominating wins over Ohio University and Missouri State. Against the Bobcats, IU out-shot Ohio 15-6 and out-scored them 4-1 in the win. Junior Lydia Schrott nabbed two more goals, raising her goal total for the year to seven. Senior Nikki Orciuch and junior Morgan Miller netted their second goals of the year.
The following day against Missouri State brought the same results. In its third shutout win of the year, Indiana topped the Bears 3-0 after taking 23 shots on goal. In the win, Kate O'Connell tallied her first goal of the season and seniors Mallory Reabold and Lesley Wiler added a goal to raise their year total to three a piece.
For the weekend, a total of six (Miller, O'Connell, Orciuch, Reabold, Schrott and Wiler) Hoosiers scored goals. Additionally, Schrott's two goals against Ohio marked the second time this season she has scored multiple goals in a game for IU (first time against Northeastern).
Coach's Corner
On Michigan State:
"This is a very important game for us. I think every game from here on out, as we enter the Big Ten season, is important. We have a big history with Michigan State. We typically play them in the regular season and then again in the Big Ten Tournament. It will no doubt be a great matchup. Since the end of last year, we have been waiting to play this game. We are going to prepare and treat it like any other game, but to say it's a big game is an understatement. I think it will be a great matchup."
On Lindenwood:
"Lindenwood is an interesting team. We typically play NCAA teams, but Lindenwood is the exception. Lindenwood has a lot of players on their roster from other countries and it's always a neat game for us to play. Although I don't know too much about them, I know they beat Missouri State and will come out and play us hard."
Hoosiers Move Up One More Spot in Rankings
In the second rankings of 2005, the Hoosiers earned an 11th-place rank in the STX/NFHCA poll. This ranking takes the place of last week's 12th-place rank as the highest any team in the program has been ranked. Of the 20 ranked teams, IU faced or will face eight of them.
Hoosiers At Top of Big Ten
Indiana can be found at or near the top in several categories in Big Ten standings. As of Sept. 19, the Hoosiers led the league in assists with 19. Indiana also placed second in shutouts with three.
In the individual rankings, Lydia Schrott is second in the conference in goals with seven, while Kayla Bashore is fourth in the league in shots. Senior Lesley Wiler is second in the league in assists.
