BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana volleyball team's stalwart defense at the net continues as the Hoosiers remain among the nation's elite. In the latest release of NCAA leaders, the Hoosiers enjoy a favorable standing in the upper crust of the country in blocks and aces categories.
Overall, the squad is seventh in the country in blocks per game with 3.48, while Nebraska leads with 4.22.
Meanwhile, sophomore middle blocker Annie Moddrell is tied for seventh in the nation with 1.74 blocks per game, while Nebraska's Melissa Elmer remained on top with 2.37 per game.
Additionally, senior outside hitter Rachel Gerling's amazing service game vaulted her into eighth with 0.76 aces per game. The nation's leader is Winthrop's Mary Hock with a 1.17 average.
The Hoosiers open Big Ten play as part of a six-match homestand with contests against Michigan State Sept. 23 at 7 p.m., and Michigan Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. Both matches will take place at the University Gym in Bloomington, Ind.
