Student Tickets Sold Out

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - With basketball season fast approaching, head coach Mike Davis has reason to be excited, and he is not the only one. It was announced here Tuesday that the student ticket allotment is sold out for the upcoming 2005-06 season.
"The students play an important part in the success of our program," Davis said. "Their dedication and support are noticed by our players and it is good to know we have their support each and every game."
The reason for the excitement is partially due to the eight returning letterwinners and four starters from a team that finished 10-6 in the Big Ten a season ago. Leading the list of returnees is All-American candidate D.J. White, who leads returnees with 13.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.
Helping White in the post will be senior Marco Killingsworth, who was a two-time all-league performer in the Southeastern Conference. He also was the leading scorer (15.2 ppg) and rebounder (7.4 rpg) this past summer when he played on the Big Ten Foreign Tour team.
Senior Marshall Strickland, sophomore Robert Vaden, who along with White are the only two players to have started all 29 games a season ago, and sophomore A.J. Ratliff are returning starters from last season. Each player was among the top four returning scorers, while Strickland led the team in assists, Vaden led in steals and Ratliff led IU in three-point field goal percentage.
Newcomers include Auburn transfer Lewis Monroe, who will look to duplicate his performance while at Auburn where he led the team to the 2003 NCAA Sweet 16. Junior college transfer Earl Calloway and true freshmen Joey Shaw, Ben Allen and Cem Dinc will also look to make an immediate impact during the upcoming campaign.
The Hoosiers open the season with an exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 4, against St. Joseph's (Ind.) on Branch McCracken Court at Assembly Hall. The time for the game will be announced at a later date.
