Be the Hoosiers' Mascot for the Day

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana fans are invited to e-mail head coach Terry Hoeppner (football@indiana.edu) as to why their 12-year-old-and under son or daughter should be IU's "mascot of the day" for the Oct. 8 Homecoming game against Illinois. The e-mail should answer the question "What is a Hoosier?" Coach Hoeppner will select the winning response, and that parent and child will receive two free tickets and a parking pass to the 11 a.m. EST/CDT Indiana-Illinois game as well as accompany the Hoosiers in "The Walk" to "The Rock" - Memorial Stadium.
Hoeppner said that the idea originated during a recent conversation with legendary singer/songwriter John Mellencamp.
"John and I were talking about how our fans at the last home game (Sept. 17 vs. Kentucky) were fantastic, and John came up with this idea as a new way to get more fans of all ages involved in the program," Hoeppner said. "I liked John's definition of what a Hoosier might be, for example, a young person with high hopes for the future. So describe for us why your son or daughter fits that description."
