Where Are They Now?-Heather Hartsock (Farrell)

Over the next several months, IUHOOSIERS.com will catch up with former Indiana women's basketball players to see where life has taken them after graduating from IU. Heather Hartsock (Farrell), who played for the Hoosiers from 1991-94, was the third alum to write in.
A native of Danville, Ind., Hartsock (Farrell) played in 66 games, averaging 1.7 points, and 1.6 rebounds per game in her four-year career. After being picked 10th in the preseason 1993-94 Big Ten polls, Hartsock (Farrell) and her teammates took everyone by surprise by finishing fourth in the Big Ten standings and making the school's second appearance at the NCAA Tournament. It marked the first time in over a decade that Indiana made it to the NCAA Tournament.

Tell us what you have done since you graduated from Indiana:
Since I graduated in 1994, I got married, had two wonderful boys, and received another bachelor's degree in secondary english/ special education. I then got a teaching job, and coached college, high school, junior high, and my son's seven-to-eight year old basketball team.
What is your current job right now?
I currently work as an eighth grade inclusion teacher for Wayne Township school cooperation. We are the new Chapel Hill seventh and eighth Grade Center.
What are some of your best memories of playing basketball for the Hoosiers?
I always tell my older son Sam, who loves sports, all about how awesome playing basketball was, and the coolest thing was how I was able to not just get my education paid for, but travel around the United States.
Would you say playing basketball and receiving an education from Indiana has really helped you get to where you are today?
Of course my experiences at IU and playing basketball got me to where I am today. If at the least it made me the person I am today, and that is well worth all the blood, sweat, and tears that were left on Assembly Hall's floor. I may not have accomplished all the accolades that I set out to, but I kept my integrity, created a good work ethic, and gained friendships that are irreplaceable; it also looks very good on a resume! I am very thankful for my experiences at IU not just as a student, but especially as a basketball player.
Any other information you would like to share (kids, spouses, etc, etc)
I have an awesome husband of six years, Mike; two gorgeous boys, Sam who is eight, and Evan who is one. These are my three reasons I am most thankful!
