Q: How have the first few weeks of school been?
A; The first few weeks have been going really well. I like all my classes and professors. It is definitely a lot different from high school especially with lectures and class size. In my high school the most I would have in my class would be 25 but now in some classes, I have 400 people! But the first few weeks have been going great.
Q: How is the team chemistry?
A: The team chemistry is getting better and better everyday. You can tell a huge difference from this summer till now on how much better we have gotten to know each other. If we have made that big of an adjustment already I cannot wait to see how we will be when season starts and ends!
Q: What are you looking forward to the most this season?
A: The thing I am looking forward the most this season is getting my jersey on with Indiana Hoosiers on it. I have always dreamed of being a Hoosier, and I have finally made one of my dreams come true. I cannot wait when I get to represent the great basketball state of Indiana. I am also looking forward in playing Purdue this season of course!
Q: How much tougher are practices with Coach Versyp compared to your high school practices?
A: Wow... high school practices were so easy compared to practices now. I was a lot quicker and smaller in high school, so I could cheat on defense and some on offense. In high school you were always the best player and not always against the best player, and here every time you play everyone else is playing just as hard as you are and they are even better then you most the time. You cannot slack off at all. You have to give it all you got every second of practice. It is more like a game then it is a practice.
Q: What's the biggest adjustment to college life been so far?
A: My biggest adjustment has been time management. It seems like I have no time to study, sleep, or even eat. I am always at practice, rehabing my knee, or in the classroom. I have had to make time to study, sleep, and eat. I do not really hang out with anyone else other than my teammates, who have become my best friends, because there is no time to. You are always with your team or at class.
Q: You suffered a knee injury last season, how does it feel right now?
A: I am feeling better and better everyday. I can tell that I am still a step behind and slower then I was but I am working on getting better every second of the day. I am slowly getting some of my moves back that I used to be able to do. I just have to be positive and mentally tough on myself to work through the pain, because it will always hurt.
Q: Have the upperclassmen been helpful in your transition?
A: The upperclassmen have helped so much more then I could even imagine. They are the most encouraging teammates I have ever had. They really have turned into my best friends. I will always look up to them and thank them for helping out whether it is taking me to class when I am running late from practice or just talking to me when I need someone to talk to.
