Along with head coach Tracy Smith and assistant coaches Ty Neal and Micah Nori, the Indiana baseball team also welcomes 12 new players to the 2006 roster. In the coming weeks, IUHOOSIERS.com will feature each IU newcomer. After pitcher Andy Casper took his turn in the spotlight, infielder Keith Haas is up next.
Haas spent two seasons at Lakeland (Ohio) Community College before arriving in Bloomington. At Lakeland, he garnered first team all-region and All-OCCAC as a sophomore after posting a .370 batting average with 38 stolen bases and 12 doubles. Haas' 2005 season came on the heels of an impressive freshman campaign, where he batted .396 with 42 stolen bases and 41 runs scored.
As a prep standout at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Haas helped the team to the 2002 Ohio High School State Championship.
The son of Ken and Ross Haas has two brothers, Kevin and Kenny, and is a sport marketing and management major.
