Loring on the 2006 Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 32 ranked Indiana women's tennis team opens spring dual action on Jan. 15 with matches against Miami (Ohio) at 9:30 a.m. and Western Michigan at 2:30 p.m. at the IU Varsity Tennis Center.
Indiana head coach Lin Loring enters his 29th season at the helm of the Hoosier women's tennis program. The NCAA's all-time winningest coach shares his thoughts on this weekend's opponents and the opening of the 2006 season.
On opening the season at home:
LL: "We are excited to start the season. Although we played four tournaments in the fall, they were all individual tournaments. The players are looking forward to playing as a team. Dual matches are what college tennis is all about."
On what you would like to see in the matches over the weekend:
LL: "I want to see two things this weekend; smart tennis which centers around good shot selection and good doubles play."
On Miami (Ohio):
LL: "Miami is one of the top Mid-American Confernce teams, but a match we expect to win if we play up to our abilities."
On Western Michigan:
LL: "WMU is always a contender for the MAC title. They beat four Big Ten teams last year and went to the NCAA tournament. This should be a great match. Hopefully playing at home will give us the edge."
