Indiana Head Coach Mike Davis Quotes
Opening Statement:
MD: "Our fans were great tonight. They got us going in the first half. I thought defensively we played as well as we have the whole season. I thought we really guarded the ball well and rebounded well after we got down early. 39 rebounds for us is outstanding. We came in the half with Marco (Killingsworth) and (Robert) Vaden with only a few points, up by four, and I felt really good about that because we had a lead with two of our best players scoring only three points. I thought we had a chance to put the game away in the second half, and we played not to lose instead of playing to win."
On holding Dee Brown to single digit points:
MD: "You can't take credit for guarding Dee Brown. He's one of the best players in our league. I think he just missed some open shots, but he still had 11 assists. We can't take credit for that because Dee is an awfully good player. I thought Lewis (Monroe) did a great job. Dee is a good player and hard to guard. He is one of my favorite players in college basketball."
On Marco Killingsworth in the second half:
MD: "Marco is a guy that can get his shot off against anyone. It doesn't matter who we are playing against, the person guarding him is going to be taller. In that second half, he made some big time plays for us. He hadn't been hurt at all this year and when he went down, I thought something serious was wrong."
On the fans:
MD: "Our fans are great. They have been great all year. The Duke game was unbelievable. They were great tonight, and they were great at the Ohio State game even though all the students weren't back from break. We got this win because of the spirit they showed tonight."
