BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - IUHOOSIERS.com recently asked each member of the Indiana women's golf team what clubs they carry around the links. In the upcoming weeks, each IU golfer will let us take a look inside what is in their bags. Senior Shannon Johnson,an All-Big Ten candidate from Sioux Falls, S.D., is first up.
Overall
SJ - "I have used the same irons (W-4) since I was a junior in high school. They have been re-shafted since then. That was the biggest improvement that I have made to them."
Putter
SJ - "I started using the Anser-Ping four years ago. I have not even thought about using a different putter."
Woods
SJ - "I feel very comfortable using my Titleist 983 driver. I only hit my Callaway 3-wood off the tee, never in the fairway. I will hit my Callaway 7-wood either on the tee or fairway."
Irons
SJ - "I like to hit my 7-iron. I have a 100-yard punch shot that I like to use in trouble situations. I know exactly how hard to hit the ball so it goes 100 yards."
Wedges
"I have learned a new punch shot with my 54-degree wedge. Coach (Clint) Wallman has taught me how to perfect the shot so I will be able to get up and down from 100 yards and in."
Ball
SJ - "Titleist ProV1x is a very good fit for my game and my spin on the greens. I feel that I can spin the ball if I need to when the situation presents itself."
