Along with head coach Tracy Smith and assistant coaches Ty Neal and Micah Nori, the Indiana baseball team also welcomes 12 new players to the 2006 roster. In the coming weeks, IUHOOSIERS.com will feature each IU newcomer. After pitcher Eric Wagner took his turn in the spotlight, infielder Jon David is up next.
At Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Ill., David earned all-conference honors three times, all-area accolades twice and all-city laurels two times. The 6-2, 210-pound infielder holds Neuqua Valley career records with 101 RBI, 32 doubles, 45 walks and owns the school's single-season record after posting 52 RBI, 11 doubles and a .978 fielding percentage as a senior. David also batted .436 and hit six home runs in 2005.
A teammate of fellow Hoosier freshman Eric Wagner, David was selected as the team's Most Valuable Player and earned Daily Herald Player of the Week honors on three occasions.
The son of John and Jane David has one brother, Jason, and plans to study sport marketing and management.

Basketball - the basketball team has a great tradition, and I think it would be cool to play in front of all the fans at Assembly Hall.
