Along with head coach Tracy Smith and assistant coaches Ty Neal and Micah Nori, the Indiana baseball team also welcomes 12 new players to the 2006 roster. In the coming weeks, IUHOOSIERS.com will feature each IU newcomer. After infielder Jon David took his turn in the spotlight, infielder Brett Sager is up next.
Sager transferred from LSU, where he sat out the 2005 season as a redshirt. Prior to his stint with the Tigers, Sager was a four-year letterwinner at Nova High School in Davie, Fla. He collected all-county and all-state selections as a senior after batting .380 with three home runs and 26 RBI.
A standout in the classroom as well, Sager earned Who's Who Among High School Student honors and was a member of the National Honor Society at Nova.
The son of Ken and Sherri Sager has one sister, Alicia, and plans to study business.
