Squads to Debut 2006 Nationals Competition Routines, Free to Public

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University's Cheerleading Program will have all three squads presenting their 2006 National Collegiate Cheer and Dance routines during a dress rehearsal Tues., Jan. 10, at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Gladstein Fieldhouse and will be free and open to the public.
The squads will use the performance as a warm up to the official NCAA collegiate competition set for Jan. 14-15, in Orlando, Fla. The annual event is held at the Disney World Wide World of Sports Milk House, which is a large indoor arena that is very similar to Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The co-ed Cream Cheer Squad is entered in the Division I-A Cheer Category, the all-female Crimson Squad is set to compete in the All-Girls Div. I-A and the Poms Squad in entered into the Jazz and Hip-Hop categories.
Indiana University is the only university with entries in three different categories for the National Championship competition, which is annually televised on ESPN and ESPN-2.
Last year, the Cream Squad finished seventh in the co-ed competition, while the Crimson Squad came in fifth. The Poms finished third nationally in the Hip-Hop category in 2004 and came in third nationally in 2003 and national runner-up in 2002 in the dance competition.
