Signee Regas Earns Player of the Year Award

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Incoming freshman Allison Regas earned the 2005 Times-Union First Coast Volleyball Player of the Year award, as recently announced by the newspaper.
"I am never surprised by the awards that she receives or the way she handles her recognition," Indiana head coach Katie Weismiller said. "Allison is first class and we are so excited to have her as part of our program starting in the fall of 2006."
Regas, a 6-1 setter from Jacksonville, Fla., earned All-America recognition in 2004. Additionally, she led Bolles to a pair of regional championships and three semifinal finishes during her five seasons with the varsity team. Remarkably, Regas began playing varsity for Bolles as an eighth-grader. During Bolles' run of five consecutive final four appearances at state, Regas garnered Dairy Farmers and Florida Athletic Coaches Association Player of the Year honors in 2004. She also earned first team all-state and all-city as well as FACA all-star team accolades in 2004. Additionally, she claimed a spot on Prep Volleyball's Top 50 list.
As a member of the Jacksonville Junior Volleyball Association, Regas traveled to national qualifier tournaments in Indianapolis, Austin, Texas, Atlanta, and Tampa, Fla. She also made trips to Austin and Colorado Springs, Colo., for high performance camps. Meanwhile, Regas earned a berth on the Youth National A2 squad.
Away from the court, Regas snared first and second academic honors throughout her prep career. She also participated in Dreams Come True, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to granting the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.
